INTRODUCTION – MY PERSONAL RANT AGAINST VEGETARIANS

 

Before diving into this series that will develop the benefits of eating a high-fat low-carbohydrate diet, I thought I’d talk about a conversation that I had with a vegetarian about the reasons for boycotting meat.

Of course, most of us agree that animals deserve to be treated with respect. That being said, I believe that sacrificing your health in order to make a political statement is a mistake.

Here are 3 arguments that I would make against vegetarianism.

First, putting all meat under the same label is extremely misleading. Meat produced in the USA, in industrial feedlots, pumped with antibiotics, grains and GMOs, is not the same as healthy grass-fed beef from Europe. There are radical differences in quality.

Second, if people boycott meat and animal derived products, what are they replacing them with? Grains and sugar, for the most part. In my opinion, this is far worse and explains, in part, the obesity epidemic. William Davis and Gary Taubes have exposed how wheat and industrial carbohydrates are the real culprits of our current situation.

I’ll add here that statistics presenting vegetarians as “healthier” than meat eaters are usually skewed due to the fact that most vegetarians are “health conscious” and thus usually lead healthier life styles: they don’t smoke, avoid alcohol, etc. But their boycott of meat is not what makes them “healthier”.

Finally, ecologists say that producing meat is destroying the planet and that there will never be enough meat to feed the world’s population. Let’s not fool ourselves, the real problem here is overpopulation, that’s what’s really destroying the planet. Blaming poor cows for their gas is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard.
